‎Dear FV&S -- Violin Maker, Your gracious Christian spirit shines through your handiwork and skills. After seventy-one years since my high school days I am again playing my antique violin passed on to me from my father when I was but thirteen years old. Those junior high and high school days were enhanced with music on the violin, with private lessons, and at rehearsal and program times at school, all good experiences for me. Busy college, pastorate, seminary, missionary college, university followed. And also college-teaching and missionary years in Haiti. All busy, busy days with no time for the violin, although I did practice up more on my piano........Thanks to you, I've been practicing at home and have developed some fingertip calluses to support my "MAIA BANG Violin Method -- Part III", published by Carl Fischer, New York, 1922. I had picked up this book somewhere, sometime along the way! While describing this on the telephone to our granddaughter at Jacksonville, FL, she told us her daughter, Sarah-our-great-granddaughter, is asking about a violin. When I had told her about the beautiful violin you had made for your young daughter, she was impressed to ask me if I thought you might be interested to make one for Sarah.....Your love for the Lord and your skills engaged for family and friends in Christ impact others for His glory. Recently I contacted Family Violins and String to help me with an anniversary surprise for my husband. After having looked at many local music shops that sold various stringed instruments, I came to realize that they were just going to sell us whatever they could without really knowing much more about violins and cellos than we did. I didn't want some cheap, machine manufactured violin from China, I wanted a quality instrument that was special, and sounded beautiful. I learned more about violins, and in the process I realized I needed to find someone who truly understands these instruments. Chris not only sells violins and cellos, but he makes and repairs them. He worked with me to set up a time where my husband and I could drive out and spend the day with him to pick out our instruments. He answered all our questions and had a variety for us to chose from. We were able to pick out the instrument that sounded right for us, and we couldn't be happier. He explained how he made the violins, a little about the history, and even offered to let us come by some time and learn more. For a handmade violin and cello the prices were extremely reasonable, and the quality and sound are top notch! My husband and I have never played, but we are excited to learn, and whenever we need help regarding the instruments, we know we can call Chris and get the help we need. I could not recommend a better place, and I looked all over the country. We didn't have a large budget, but that wasn't a problem. If you want honest, reliable, quality instruments, I recommend this place. I am so thrilled to have found them! Amazing family!
